History
The group included brothers Jean Engblom ( Swede. Janne Engblom ) and Kim Engblom ( Swede. Kim Engblom ), as well as Tina Krausen ( Swede. Tina Krausen ) and Tina Petersson ( Swede. Tina Petersson ). The team was formed in 1979 and is notable for the fact that each of the members of the group is a Swede by nationality. The debut album was released in 1981. The group performed music in English and Swedish.
In 1990, Beat were selected to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest . For this, a song was selected in Swedish (the language of the national minority in Finland) - “Fri?” [1] . This is the first Swedish song to represent Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest. The group’s performance was unsuccessful: having scored only eight points (five from Iceland, three from Israel and not a single from Sweden), Beat finished last, sharing their position with the Norwegian Ketil Stokkan .
In 1992, the team broke up. The Engblom brothers are currently soloists of the E-band .
