Virje ( Horv. Virje ) is a community with a center in the village of the same name in northern Croatia , in the Koprivnitsk-Križevack County . The population is 3280 people in the village itself and 4586 people in the entire community ( 2011 ) [1] . The vast majority of the population are Croats (98%) [2] . In addition to Virie, the community includes 5 more villages.

Virie is located 6 km northwest of Djurževac and 15 km southeast of Koprivnica . Highway D2 Varazdin - Koprivnitsa - Osijek - Vukovar passes through the village. Another D210 highway starts in Virye and goes through the village of Molva and the bridge over Drava to the left bank of the Drava into the Gola community. In the northern part of the village of Virye there is a railway station on the line Koprivnica - Osijek.
The territory of the community is located on the fertile Podravina lowland , the village of Virye is surrounded by agricultural land, most of the inhabitants are engaged in agriculture and food industry.
In 1334, the church of St. Martin in Virie was first mentioned. The modern church building was built in the Baroque style in 1834 on the foundation of an old church destroyed by fire.
