Story
One winter, Gruffalo tells the family about his meeting with the Little Mouse, warning that it’s better to stay away from this terrible beast:
He is like a mighty bear, and his hair is overgrown,
Snakes on the ground his long tail,
Orange flames burn his eyes
And shake iron whiskers!
Then Gruffalo falls asleep, but his little daughter, who is bored of sitting in a cave, goes in search of the Little Mouse in the thicket. She stumbles upon the tracks of the Snake, Owl and Fox, taking them for the tracks of the Little Mouse. However, when meeting with the beasts, she sees that they do not fit the description.
Finally, gruffalenok meets the little Mouse and decides to eat it. However, Little Mouse says that now he will call his terrible and mighty friend. The little mouse climbs onto a tree and, in the light of the moon, casts a huge shadow on the snow. Having taken this shadow for the shadow of the most terrible creature that Papa-Gruffalo spoke about, the daughter runs away in horror to the cave to Papa, where he falls asleep:
How good in the cave ... To fall asleep to the sound of snoring ...
And nothing is scary when dad is near!
