Biography

He was born on December 20, 1934 in the Dogdo-Chybagalakhsky village of the Momsky region of the Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic , into a family of reindeer herders. [one]

In 1954-1958 he studied at the Herzen Pedagogical Institute in Leningrad . As a first-year student, he deeply engaged in research work under the guidance of Professor V. I. Tsintsius , participated in the scientific and dialectological expedition of the ethnographer-tungus scholar L. D. Riches.

In 1960 he graduated from the historical and philological faculty of Yakutsk State University . In 1965 he joined the Union of Writers of the USSR .

In 1970 he graduated from the graduate school of the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of Language and Literature of the Peoples of the USSR, defended his thesis on the theme “Dogdo-Chebogalakh Conversation of Evens in the Momsky District of the Yakut ASSR”.

In 1958-1965, 1970-1982 he worked at the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Yakutsk Branch of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences .

Creativity

Lebedev’s first poems were published in the magazines Polar Star , Friendship of Peoples , and Far East. The first book of poems was published in 1963 and it was called "Omcheni" ( Evenk. "Omcheni" ) by the name of the legendary Even hero. The work is based on folklore, coming from the depths of centuries. In total, he wrote about 10 poetry collections in Russian, Even and Yakut languages.

In Verkhoyanie, in his fatherland, the poet drew themes for his poetic inspiration, here he studied the language and folklore of his native people (“In the dense taiga”, translated by G. Frolov) [1] :

 

In the dense taiga
My word was born.
In the mountains of Verkhoyansk
And in the arctic tundra ...

 

Scientific Papers

Lebedev spent the 1970s on numerous scientific expeditions, exploring the Even language of Yakutia , Kamchatka and Magadan regions, and the Khabarovsk Territory . The expeditions resulted in the monographs “The Even language of Yakutia” and the “Okhotsk dialect of the Even language”, developed by him “The rules for the spelling of the Even language” (in collaboration with K. A. Novikova), as well as the articles “Evens of the Momsky region of the YAASSR”, “About some the peculiarities of the Even language of the Allaikhovsky district ”,“ On Even children's literature ”,“ Literature born by the October Revolution ”, etc. He has published 40 popular science articles on the language, folklore, literature, culture and everyday life of Evens. V. D. Lebedev is the author of more than 10 textbooks and teaching aids for Even schools.
