It has been developed since March 1940. Serial production began in 1942. In a number of modifications, the engine was produced until the end of 1948. In total, 7902 copies were produced in different versions.
Engines VK-107A were exported to Albania, Hungary, China, Poland, Yugoslavia.
Design
The engine, like the prototype, remained the 12th cylinder, V-shaped, with a cylinder collapse of 60 Β°, received a gearbox with a gear ratio of 1: 2. But the cylinder blocks were completely redesigned: to increase the flow areas of the valves, each cylinder now had not three, but four valves - 2 inlet and outlet. In addition to the valve design, the crankcase, crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, and a number of other units that were reinforced due to an increase in the loads acting on them underwent a change. A significant difference between the M-107 and previous models was that at the outlet of the supercharger part of the air was sent directly to the cylinders, bypassing the carburetor, and the other, passing through the carburetor, fell into the cylinder in the form of a highly enriched mixture. The supercharger itself was equipped with a guide apparatus with Polikovsky blades.
Modifications
- M-107 ( M-107P )
- M-107NT
- M-107A ( VK-107A )
- VK-107R - had a high-altitude supercharger. This engine ( VK-107-E-30-20 ) was used for the combined power plant E-30-20
Application
M-107 (VK-107) engines were installed on serial Yak-9U , Pe-2 aircraft (small series) and experimental Yak-3 VK-107, Pe-2I , I-250 (MiG-13), ITP M-1 .
