History

The band was founded in Ulville in 1996 by guitarist Jussi Yulikoski and drummer Mikko Khakila, who began by playing cover versions of Metallica and AC / DC . Initially, they took the name DisCo, but were forced to abandon it, having learned of the existence of a Finnish electro-pop group with the same name.

The band played in small venues and quickly gained fame on the local music scene. In 2000, Miikka Koivisto, a Disco Ensemble fan at the time, attended their concert and later joined the group, first as a guitarist, and then became a vocalist. After the three members of the band moved to study in Helsinki, the bass player changed several times in the band; Lasse Lindfors joined the permanent team.

In the spring of 2006, following the success of the second album at the national level, Disco Ensemble and Fullsteam Records signed a contract with Universal Music , selected as a distributor worldwide. The First Aid Kit was reissued and released first in Europe and then in North and South America and Asia. The band toured extensively in support of the album.
