Vasily Ivanovich Boldovkin ( 1903 - 1963 ) - commandant of the Soviet Embassy in Tehran (1923-1928), diplomatic courier , close friend of S. A. Yesenin .

Biography

He studied at the Moscow Commercial School. Under the influence of his older brother P.I. Chagin (Boldovkin) in 1918 he joined the Communist Youth Union named after the III International . In the same year he was called up to work in the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department , because of which he had to drop out of school.

Later mobilized in the Red Army . Member of the civil war . In battles with the White Guards he was seriously wounded in the left leg and limped for the rest of his life.

After the war ended and demobilization in 1922 V.I. Boldovkin moved with his parents to Baku , where his older brother P. Chagin was the second secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan .

He got a job at the Baku communal farm. In January 1923, V. I. Boldovkin was sent to Persia ( Iran ) as a secretary for the purchase of wool and cotton of the Sharq (East) mixed Russian-Persian joint-stock company.

From 1924 to 1928 - commandant of the Soviet Embassy in Tehran and a diplomatic courier . In 1928 he returned to Baku, where he lived until the end of his life.

Subsequently, he worked in the NKVD , the head of the information and propaganda department of the Azneft association , in the administration of the Ushosdore highway. Since 1954 - Deputy Director of the Karadag Cement-Gypsum Plant.

He was a close friend of Sergei Yesenin, who spoke with great warmth about him. Several times he saved the poet from certain death. He left a memoir [1] about meetings with the poet during his stay in Baku.

He died in 1963 and was buried in Baku.

The elder brother is P. I. Chagin , a well-known Soviet journalist , party and publishing worker, literary figure, also a friend of Sergei Yesenin.
