Charles Linwood Williams ( born March 8, 1960), better known as Buck Williams, is an American professional basketball player who currently works as an assistant coach for the Portland Trail Blazers . During his 17-year career, he has performed at three clubs: New Jersey Nets , Portland Trail Blazers, and New York Knicks . He participated 3 times in matches of all NBA stars , once went to the national team of all NBA stars and 4 times to the national teams of all defense stars . In 2011, he was the leader of the Nets by points (10,440), this record was broken by Brooke Lopez on April 10, 2017, rebounds (7,576), rebounds per game (11.9) and the number of free throws made (2,476) ) He also ranks 13th in rebounds in NBA history [1] .

Content
Professional career
After three years in college, Williams decided to graduate and move to the NBA . He was selected at number 3 by the New Jersey Nets Club in the 1981 draft . In his debut season, he scored an average of 15.5 points per game and made 12.3 rebounds and was named the rookie of the year . His club was able to win 20 more victories than in the previous season. In “Nets” Williams spent 8 seasons in 6 of which he was one of the three best in rebounds in the NBA and each season gained more than 12 rebounds per game. At this time, the Nets for the first time since the merger of the NBA and the ABA reached the second round of the playoffs, where they lost to Milwaukee Bucks .
On June 24, 1989, the Nets traded Williams at the Portland Trail Blazers for Sam Bowie and the draft pick. In the first three seasons with the Blazers, his team reached the Western Conference finals three times and reached the NBA Finals twice.
Coaching career
In July 2010, Williams was hired by Nate Macmillan as an assistant coach to the Portland Trail Blazers team [2] .
