Biography

Born in the family of a hereditary mining engineer, doctor of technical sciences of Israel Borisovich Shlain , known for his work on the technology of glass melting and reinforced concrete structures, [1] whose parents were repressed in the 30s.

Graduate of the philological faculty of Moscow State University (1966). During the “thaw” years, he often performed at the monument to Mayakovsky, at poetry evenings at Moscow State University, at institutes, and in cafes. After defending his dissertation “The Character of the Grotesque by N. V. Gogol” in 1972 [2] he taught Russian literature at the Preparatory Courses of Moscow State University.

Since the mid-1970s - editor at the Publishing House of Moscow University.

Translated poems of foreign poets. In 1992 he was posthumously admitted to the Moscow Writers Union.

Mikhail Shlain’s poems were published in leading magazines (October, New World, Counselor, Youth, Moscow, Volga), and the poetry day almanac (1976, 1984).
