History

  • 1780 - the county was formed by decree of Empress Catherine II of April 25 as part of the Kharkov province by transforming the Bogodukhov Commissar.
  • 1796 - by decree of Emperor Paul I of December 12 became part of the updated Sloboda-Ukrainian province .
  • 1835 - the name of the province was changed to Kharkov.
  • 1923 - after administrative reform, the county was liquidated with the formation of the Volchansky district .

Population

According to the 1897 census, the county population was 166,787 people, including 11,020 inhabitants in the city of Volchansk [1] .
