Biography
He graduated from Malvern and Brasenose College Oxford.
In 1940, he began his professional career in the colonial administration in Northern Nigeria. During World War II he served as part of the Royal West African Frontier Force.
In 1945 he resumed his service in Northern Nigeria.
- 1956-1958 - Commissioner, Head of the Executive Council in Kano (Nigeria),
- 1959-1964 - Second Prime Minister of Northern Nigeria and Head of Regional Civil Service,
- 1964-1969 - Deputy High Commissioner of Kenya,
- 1969-1973 - Governor of Seychelles. During his governorship, both positive changes in the economy and the growth of political activity of the population became noticeable. With him, a dam was launched on the Rochon Dam. In 1972, together with Queen Elizabeth II, participated in the opening ceremony of a new airport. During these years, a number of modern hotels were built, in particular, the Reef Hotel at Anse AuxPins.
- In 1974-1978 - Head of the British Department for the Development of Territories in the Caribbean, and since 1979 - consultant to the Department.
