History
Stepanavan district was formed in 1930 . [one]
It was abolished in 1995 when Armenia switched to a new administrative-territorial division [2] .
Geography
On January 1, 1948 the territory of the district was 635 km². [one]
Administrative division
As of 1948 the area included 1 city (Stepanavan) and 19 village councils : Agarak, Armanis, Vardablursky, Gergersky, Gyulagaraksky, Katnahpyursky, Kirov, Kogessky, Kuibyshev, Kurtansky, Ledzhansky, Lori Berd, Maxim-Gorki, Ovandarsky, Onartsinsky, Pushkin , Sverdlovsk, Urutsky, Yagdansky [3] .
