Description

Found in Australia , Asia, Africa, North, Central and South America. They have a pentagonal sternum and very wide and large pedipalps. Representatives of the genera Heterometrus and Pandinus became popular when breeding them in terrariums. Of the large representatives, Heterometrus swammerdami ( India , Sri Lanka ) and Pandinus imperator stand out, reaching a length of 15-20 cm and weighing up to 32 g. [1]

Systematics

17 genera and more than 262 species (2 genera and 2 species extinct). Recently, the genus Urodacus from the family Urodacidae , as well as representatives of the disbanded close family Diplocentridae, have been included in the Scorpionidae family [1] .
