Geography
Vedeno district was located in the west of the republic, on the border with the Grozny region . Bordered: in the west with Mezhdurechensky and Predgornensky district of the Grozny region, in the north with Ritlyabsky , in the east with Andalalsky and in the south with Botlikhsky districts .
History
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of March 7, 1944 “On the Elimination of the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and on the Administrative Structure of its Territory”, the territories of the following regions were transferred to the Dagestan Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic: Vedensky, Nozhayyurt, Sayasanovsky, Cheberloevsky within the existing borders, as well as Kurchaloevsky and Sharoevsky areas, with the exception of the northwestern part of these areas, and the eastern part of the Gudermes region [1] .
By a resolution of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of June 7, 1944, the Vedeno district of the DASSR was established from the former Vedeno district of the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic with its center in the village of Vedeno.
By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the RSFSR “On the restoration of the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and the abolition of the Grozny region” of January 9, 1957, the Vedeno district was transferred back from the DASSR to the restored Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic [2] .

Population
After the region joined the republic, Avars from different regions of the republic were resettled to this territory [3] .
