Biography
Born in the city of Bytom (now located in Poland ). He graduated from the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts in violin and clarinet. By 1941, he played the clarinet in a local chamber orchestra. In 1948, Harry recorded his first single, "Und jetzt ist es still." The song has become popular; in the future, cover versions of such famous artists as Betty Hutton (called Blow a Fuse , 1951) and Björk ( It's oh so quiet , 1995) were recorded on it. [one]
The most famous in Europe was the participation of the musician at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960, where Winter performed the composition “Du hast mich so fasziniert” . The song finished seventh of thirteen. [2] However, he won the Monte Carlo music festival by performing the song "Vogerl aus Wien" .
In the future, for his musical career, the performer managed to become the winner of three awards in the field of music, as well as release his own book “Dreh dich noch einmal um”. In total, they were released twelve discs. On the eightieth birthday of the singer he was devoted to a special broadcast on the Austrian television and radio company.
Harry Winter passed away in 2001. In 2002, on the day of the first anniversary of his death, he was unveiled a memorial stone in Vienna, at the corner of Grinzingerstrasse and Heiligenstärterstraße (Grinzingerstraße / Ecke Heiligenstädterstraße) .
