Metorhoz

Metorchosis (Latin Metorchosis ) - helminthiasis from the group of human trematodoses and carnivores, caused by Metorchis albidus.

The causative agents of human methorchosis are the trematodes Metorchis albidus (Braun, 1893, syn. Metorchis bills ), living in Siberia and Metorchis conjunctus (Cobbold, 1960, syn. Metorchis intermedius ), living in Canada and Alaska, fam. Opisthorchidae . The first intermediate host is the mollusk. Larvae parasitize in the musculature, gills and other tissues of cyprinids (ide, roach, rudd, gley, minnow, bream, coughfish, bream), and mature parasites in the gallbladder and bile ducts of the liver of carnivorous mammals. The disease is registered in Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, etc.

The body of M. albidus is pear-shaped, 2.5-3.5 mm long, 1.2-1.6 mm wide. In one infected fish there may be 30 thousand parasite metacercariae .

In humans, M. albidus parasitizes in the liver and gall bladder.

Since opisthorchis and methorchis often parasitize in the same fish, researchers believe that “in 63.2% of patients with helminth-ovoscopically confirmed diagnosis of“ chronic opisthorchiasis ”there is actually mixed invasion [1] caused by O. felineus and M . bilis, monoinvasion of O. felineus (in 30.4% of patients) and M. bilis (in 7.9%) is less frequently recorded ” [2] .

A differential diagnosis is made with opisthorchiasis using the thin-layer immunoassay method developed by Elwig H. et all. (1977) in the modification of V.T. Kuznetsova and co-authors (1987) [3] , or growing larvae to sexually mature maritas [4] .
