Career
Born in Kenya, at a young age with his parents moved to South Africa , and in 2008 he took British citizenship and has since acted under the flag of Great Britain .
For the first time on the international stage, Frum performed in 2006 when he participated in the Kenya national team at the World Championships in the U23 age category. In the group he became the 45th, and he finished the cutting at the 36th position, remembering only that he did not fit into one of the turns of the track and knocked down the steward [8] .
In 2007, Chris signed the first professional contract with the South African team Konica Minolta . As part of this team, Frum won the first two victories: he won the Giro delle Regioni at the fifth stage and the Japan Tour at the sixth stage. As part of the national team of Kenya became the bronze medalist of the World Championship "B" in the individual race [9] .
These successes did not go unnoticed, and in 2008, Chris moved to the European continent in the British team " Barloworld ". In this team, Frum took the second place in the overall standings on the roads of South Africa Giro del Capo and for the first time started the “Big Loop” , which he completed at the 81st position. The following year, at the first Jiro career, he took an even higher 35th place. In September 2009, the Briton announced the transition to the new British team " Team Sky ".
At first, Frum was marked as the 9th place overall in the overall Tour du Haut Var . In addition, Chris became the second in the championship of Britain, losing only to teammate Bradley Wiggins . As part of the UK team, Frum took part in the Commonwealth Games and in the race with a separate start took fifth place, losing more than two minutes to David Millar .
The first half of 2011 was not very successful for Froome, but he made a real breakthrough on the Spanish Vuelta . During the first week, Chris practically did not fall below 30th position, and at the ninth stage with a mountain finish on the rise, Kovatilya became the fifth. A day later, at the race with a separate start, Frum became the second, losing only to Tony Martin . As a result of this success, Chris became the leader in the overall standings of the Spanish super race dress. Frum held the red leadership jersey on his shoulders only one day, but won at the 17th stage, literally snatching the victory on the rise of Peña-Kabarga from the main rival - Juan José Cobo . Following the results of the Vuelta 2011, Chris Froome finished second, losing 13 seconds to Juan José Cobo of GEOX. July 18, 2019, after the disqualification of Juan José Cobo, the victory in the 2011 Vuelta passed to Chris [10]
At Tour de France 2012, he also finished second, losing only to his captain Bradley Wiggins . At the 2012 Olympics, Chris became the third in individual cutting.
His first victory of the Tour de France was Chris Froome in 2013 , but the following year he dropped out of the 2014 Tour de France . After that, Chris won the Tour de France 2015 , 2016 and 2017 according to the general classification.
Doping Scandal
In December 2017, Chris Froome received a notice from the International Cycling Union (UCI) that his doping test B, taken on September 7, 2017 during the Vuelta Spain 2017 , is twice as high as the salbutamol content (Salbutamol); 1000 ng / ml. Violation of the Froome reported September 20, 2017. Sample B confirmed the first analysis, and in accordance with the WADA anti-doping rules, an investigation was launched [11] . Frum standardly explained the positive doping test by having asthma and taking the drug as prescribed by the doctor [12] , continued participation in cycling and won the next Grand Tour Giro d'Italia 2018 . However, a number of famous riders spoke negatively about this. Lance Armstrong said: “Froome can be fully justified, but he is already tarnished forever” [13] . Romain Bardé : “I don’t imagine how an athlete with such a high dose of salbutamol in a sample can be justified” [14] . The triple winner of the Tour de France Greg Lemond believes that "Frum bears full responsibility, and an appropriate punishment should be applied to him" [15] . As a result, the organizers of the Tour de France 2018 did not allow the stinging Briton to the new Grand Tour [16] . However, cyclists' concerns about the influence of the team Frum Team Sky on the International Cycling Union were justified. Froome was acquitted and allowed to participate in the Tour de France 2018 [17] .
Froome took part in the Tour de France 2018 and finished the competition again on the podium with a third, successfully losing the championship to his teammate Team Sky , also to the British racer Geraint Thomas [18] .
