History

On March 1, 1973, Pope Paul VI issued the bull Quanta gloria, established the diocese of Manantavadi, separating it from the Archdiocese of Tellicherry. On the same day, the diocese of Manantavadi entered the metropolis of Ernakulam - Angamali .

On December 4, 1975, the Diocese of Manantavadi transferred part of its territory to the new Diocese of Tellicherry.

On May 18, 1995, the Diocese of Tellicherry entered the Metropolitanate of Tellicherry.

On August 29, 1997 and January 15, 2010, the Diocese of Manantavadi transferred part of its territory to the new dioceses of Bhadravati and Mandi .
