History
KOVSHOVKO SMALL - the village of Madame Krestovsky, on a country road, the number of yards - 1, the number of souls - 8 m. (1856) [2]
According to the “Topographic Map of Parts of the St. Petersburg and Vyborg Provinces” in 1860, the village was called Malaya Kovshova (Vysotsky) and consisted of 2 peasant households [3] .

According to the map of 1879, the village was called Malaya Kovshova and consisted of 1 peasant's yard [5] .

In 1885, the village of Malaya Kovshova (Vysotsky) consisted of 2 yards.
According to the statistics on the national economy of Tsarskoye Selo Uyezd in 1888, the Malaya Kovshovka Manor belonged to the local peasant A. Kirillov. Three more Malaya Kovshovka manors belonged to the local peasants A. S., I. S. and P. S. Luccone [6] .
In the 19th century, the village administratively belonged to the Rozhdestvensky volost of the 2nd camp of the Tsarskoye Selo district of St. Petersburg province , at the beginning of the 20th century to the Gatchina volost.
In the early 1900s, the land at the newly opened station of the Tsarskoye Selo Railway, which was previously part of the Krasnitsky specific estate, was acquired by the peasant Peter Liukonen. He used part of the land for his estate, and sold the rest for cottages. In total, more than 50 cottages were built.
According to the "Memorial Book of the St. Petersburg Province" for 1905, the Malaya Kovshovka manor belonged to the peasants of the village of Poritsy: Andrei Luccone, Ivan Stepanov and Andrei Kirilov (aka Mavrya) [7] .
In 1910, according to the project of architect B.N. Basin , a church was built in the summer cottage in memory of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty and consecrated in the name of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God.
In 1914, at the request of local residents, the railway station and the village of Malaya Kovshovka were renamed in honor of the national hero Ivan Susanin in Susanino [8] .
According to 1933, the cottage village of Susanino was the administrative center of the Susaninsky village council of the Krasnogvardeisky district , which besides himself also included the cottage village of Semrino , with a total population of 985 people [9] .
According to administrative data, as of January 1, 1935, 1884 people lived in the dacha village of the Krasnogvardeisky district of Susanino [10] .
According to 1936, the composition of the Susaninsky Village Council included 2 settlements, numbering 29 households [11] .
According to the topographic map of 1939, the village numbered 432 yards.
During the 2nd World War, the village was occupied by German troops. On an ongoing basis, the German units in the village were not located. Released on January 26, 1944.
In 1958, the population of the village of Susanino was 4140 people [12] .
According to data from 1966 and 1973, the village was the administrative center of the Susaninsky Village Council [13] [14] .
According to 1990 data, 2,992 people lived in the village of Susanino . The village was the administrative center of the Susaninsky Village Council, which included 9 settlements: the villages of Virkino , Zaborye , Kovshovo , Krasnitsa , Myza ; villages Kobralovo , Semrino , Susanino ; the village at Vladimirskaya station, with a total population of 8095 people [15] .
In 1997, 2391 people lived in the village, in 2002 - 2195 people (Russians - 88%), in 2007 - 2100, in 2009 - 2010 [16] [17] [18] [19] .
Geography
The village is located in the north-eastern part of the district on the highway 41K-222 ( Semrino - Kovshovo ).
In the center of the village is the Susanino railway platform.
The distance to the administrative center of the district, Gatchina is 21 km [15] .
