Karol Auer or Karl Auer ( Polish Karol Auer , Czech Karel Auer , German Karl Auer ; 1818 - 1859 ) - a lithographer and graphic artist, probably of Czech origin, worked in Lviv and Galicia for more than 20 years.

Biographical information
Czech by origin. He graduated from the University of Vienna . In the 1830s, he came to work in Lviv at the invitation of the owner of the Piller printing house.
The first known lithographic works of Auer in Lviv are dated 1837 . Already from the beginning of the 1840s Auer created lithographic portraits of Boleslav the Brave and Adam Tchaikovsky, and portraits of Kazimierz Jagiellonchik , Count Alexander Fredr , Metropolitan Atanazy Sheptitsky, General Dvernitsky and other prominent citizens of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (mainly of Polish origin) were published in the printing house of Peter Piller. T. Lenartovich, V. Zalessky, M. Grinevetsky, N. Kuzemsky).
In the same place, in the Piller printing house, views of the Lviv City Hall, the loophole of Lviv - the estate of the Lvov Kursk Brotherhood, fairs near St. Jura Cathedral, Sand Hill with the remains of the High Castle , were pictured by the author from the tower of the town hall, and other key structures in the city structure.
At the end of the first half of the 19th century Auer made a selection of lithographs with a view of the Galician villages and places for the album “Collection of the most beautiful outskirts of Galicia”.
