A5 - the highest category road in Latvia , passing along the Salaspils - Babite route. It is part of the Riga bypass road, European routes E 67 , E 77 and European Communication Networks (TEN-T).

The total length of the road is 40.9 km. Before the junction with the road, the A9 has one lane in each direction, then to Babite - 2 lanes. The current speed limit is 90 km / h. The average daily traffic volume (AADT) in 2010 amounted to 8948 cars per day. The road has asphalt and asphalt concrete pavement.

In its length, the A5 road crosses the Kekavinu river, the P85 , P90 , A7 roads in the Kekava area, the A8 road to Stunishi, the P132 road in Jaunmarupe , the A9 road in Skult, the A10 road in Babitsky volost .
