Etymology of a surname
The surname is translated from Abkhazian as "Son of (his) Shat" (Shat - name, Ipa - (his) son).
History
It is a branch of the family of princes Chaabalyrhua . One of them moved from Bzyb Abkhazia to the village of Reka in the historical region of Samurzakan [2] . The Abazin princes of Loov , the Abkhaz Achba , Chhotua are considered to be homogeneous people of Shat-Ipa; Georgian Chkheidze , Eristov-Rachinsky , Machabeli (the first, crushed house) and Abkhazi-Anchabadze .

Owned land in the vicinity of the village of Reka.
