Regulation
The economic and geographical position of Derendorf is very favorable. It is located in the junction of road and rail transport links connecting the district not only with the rest of Düsseldorf, but also with all neighboring areas of North Rhine-Westphalia. The situation is somewhat worsened by the lack of direct access to the Rhine River and the absence of a large passenger railway station.
Other administrative areas of Düsseldorf border Derendorf: Unterrath , Stockum , Golzheim , Pempelfort , Düsseltal, Mörsenbroich .
All the boundaries of Derendorf are clearly expressed on the map of Dusseldorf. In the north, through Thewissenweg (the northern border of the Northern Cemetery) and An der Piwipp (separating the industrial and residential areas), in the west - by expressway number 8 (Danziger Street) and Danziger Str. Ross (Roßstraße), in the south by the wide multi-lane Julich Street (Jülicher Str.), And in the east - by rail (Düsseldorf- Duisburg and Düsseldorf- Ratingen ).
General characteristics and features
Derendorf is sharply demarcated into three parts:
- The northeast of the region has well-defined industrial features. Freight train adjoins here. D. Derendorf station and the corps of a large Mercedes plant producing freight and passenger vans designed both for domestic consumption and for export . Therefore, customs is also located here.
- The north-west of the district is the large city "Northern Cemetery " (Norgfriedhof). Many monuments are protected by law in the cemetery and it is important for the history of Dusseldorf, although burials are carried out regularly until now, including the only Jewish cemetery operating in Dusseldorf.
- The southern part of the district is a large residential area where apartment buildings alternate with offices and firms.
Streets
Derendorf has 54 streets of various types [2] . The vast majority of streets are called streets themselves (Straße). There are 48 of them. Two streets are called roads (Lemgoer Weg, Thewissenweg). One street is called in memory of the manor house (Hof), which was previously located here (Am Adershof). The name of another street speaks of the nearby Northern Cemetery (Am Nordfriedhof).
