Mishing (also Miri , Mising ) is a people in the east of India. He lives mainly in the districts of Lakhimpur , Sonitpur, Dhemaji, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Golaghat, Tinsukia, Assam state. A small Mishing population is also found in the neighboring state of Arunachal Pradesh (where they are known as mountain miri ).
After the Bodo people, it is the second largest tribal nation in Assam. According to the 1991 census, 467,790 representatives of the ethnic group were recorded. According to Ethnologue for 2007, this figure is 571 thousand people (not counting about 10 thousand mountain worlds) [1] . The literacy rate is about 60%.
Miri villages are relatively large, with an average of 50-60 individual farms. The house is built of wood and bamboo and thatched. The economy is based on agriculture. Mushing language refers to the branches of the Tani of the Tibeto-Burmese family; mountain worlds speak another language.
