Diocese of Mangalore ( Latin: Dioecesis Mangalorensis ) is a diocese of the Roman Catholic Church with its center in the city of Mangalore , India . The Diocese of Mangalore is a member of the Metropolitanate of Bangalore . The cathedral of the diocese of Mangalore is the church of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Rosary .

History
On March 13, 1853, the Holy See established the Apostolic Vicariate of Mangalore, separating it from the Apostolic Vicariate of Verapoli (today - the Archdiocese of Verapoli ).
On September 1, 1886, Pope Leo XIII issued the Bull Humanae salutis , which transformed the apostolic vicar of Mangalore into a diocese.
On June 12, 1923, the diocese of Mangalore transferred part of its territory for the construction of a new diocese of Calicut .
On July 16, 2012, the Diocese of Mangalore transferred part of its territory to form the new Diocese of Udupi .
Every year on September 8, Indian Catholics of the diocese of Mangalore hold the Monti Festival , dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
