Vessel History
The keel of the vessel was laid down with serial number 638 and the name Galaxy on May 25, 1995 at the Meyer Werft shipyards in Papenburg as the second Century class vessel. Compared to the lead class vessel, the second vessel was extended by 15 meters. Launching took place in May 1996. After the construction was completed, the vessel was transferred on October 10, 1996 to the American shipping company Celebrity Cruises Inc. .
In April 2008, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. , the parent company Celebrity Cruises announced the transfer of the vessel, which in the meantime became Celebrity Galaxy , to the daughter TUI Cruises , newly formed to work on the German market. The transfer of the ship took place on March 18, 2009 in San Juan ( Puerto Rico ). They agreed to keep the price secret [1] .
In 2009-2010, the vessel was called Mein Schiff and received a serial number only with the advent of the second vessel in a company called Mein Schiff 2 .
