Biography
Born on October 29, 1854 in a family originally from Normandy , at the age of ten he begins to take drawing lessons, which were interrupted by the Franco-Prussian War . Subsequently, he will continue to paint independently
From 1877 to 1879 he attended meetings in the Parisian cafe " New Athens ", where he met with Edgar Degas and Eduard Manet . In 1880 he wrote a series of everyday scenes in the spirit of the 17th century , but they have little success. A year later, his picture was first taken to the Salon . He writes in an academic style until 1890 , when, under the influence of Felix Brackemon, he enters the post-impressionist camp. His new style was influenced by Rococo artists such as Antoine Watteau and Francois Boucher , and La Touche was inspired by Puvi de Chavannes . This change immediately entailed great success. In subsequent years, leads an active creative life.
In 1913 he died while working at the easel .
