About the album
Radio became commercially successful, had success on the Billboard charts and five months after the release received gold status, with a circulation of 500,000 copies in the United States. On April 19, 1989, it was certified “platinum” by the American Recording Association after a million copies were sold in the United States. The album received positive reviews, critics mostly praised LL Cool J's lyrics and Rubin's production. According to critics, this is the best work of LL Cool J.
Radio belongs to the main era of hip hop. There is a mixture of two genres of Old School and New School hip-hop. The album is one of the best and most successful hip-hop albums. In 2003, he finished 478th on the list of 500 greatest albums of all time according to Rolling Stone magazine .
