The river is 31 km long [3] . It takes its sources from the southwestern slopes of the extinct Lauchachan ' [4] , flows through a swampy plain. It flows into Icha ' [5] on the right at a distance of 105 km from its mouth.

The name is translated from Even. Turkachin - " sled (road)" [6] .

The Tyrkachin River is the site of salmon spawning [7] .

According to the state water register of Russia, it belongs to the Anadyro-Kolyma Basin District [3] . The code of the water body is 19080000212120000030362 [3] .
