Biography
Representative of the Russian-Lithuanian princely family of Koretsky . Korets inherited from his father in 1522.
Throughout his life, he held a number of important government and military posts. From 1539 to 1548 he was the headman of Zhytomyr , in 1548 - 1576 - the headman of Bratslav and Vinnytsia , and from 1560 - also of Lutsk and Zvenigorod. In 1572 - 1576 he served as governor of Volyn .
A large landowner, who concentrated in his hands huge estates covering almost the entire north-eastern part of Volyn . Repeatedly fought and sued neighbors, feudal lords [1] .
In 1532 , he bought back part of the center of the patrimonial estate of the town of Kortsa that belonged to the Masalsky - Koretsky. Among the cities and villages belonging to Bogush, there was Zolotonosha , the first written mention of which in 1576 was found in his spiritual testament, where he recalls " Zolotonosha, whose name is Glinschina, located in the Kiev region ".
Under the command of Prince Bogush Koretsky was in-line defense . Commanding a mercenary army, he repeatedly successfully fought with the Tatar attacks, repeated almost every year. He distinguished himself in campaigns against the Horde in 1549-1550 , defending, together with the lordly elder Bernard Pretvich, the southern borders of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
Member of the Livonian War . In 1564, he fought under the command of N. Radziwill in the victorious battle for the Litvins at Chashniki . In 1567, at the head of the detachment, along with Prince A. M. Kurbsky , who crossed over to their side, raided Velikiye Luki .
Bogush made a lot of efforts to strengthen the outposts on the state border. He strengthened the fortifications of the Korets fortress (about 1550), erected a fortified castle in Bratslav ( 1550 ), built a second Vinnitsa castle ( 1571 ), completed the reconstruction of the Zhytomyr castle. Arsenals are updated, fresh units of the military are recruited.
In 1538, Bogush Koretsky founded a monastery in the village of Gorodishche in the name of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary . In 1557, he laid the foundation for the new female Holy Resurrection Monastery in Korets. The prince took care of churches and monasteries on the territory of his possessions, founded a number of new monasteries, introduced a communal charter in them, made generous donations, in particular, to the Zimnensky monastery in Volyn.
In 1569 , Bogush Koretsky signed an act of accession of Volyn to the Commonwealth. B. Koretsky planned to leave his son Yakim to the Vinnytsia headquarters, and even made an appropriate order in this regard, but after the death of Prince Bogush the situation changed radically. The Vinnytsia headman was given to Yuri Strus, and the Koretsky were forced to be satisfied in the Bratslav region with several small castles.
The prince is buried in the Kiev Pechersk Lavra . On his tombstone was the inscription “ Euphemius Bogush Feodorovich, Prince Koretsky, governor Volynsky, the elder Lutsky, Bratslavsky, Vinnitsa and Zvenigorod, deleted from the list of living, ordered his bones to be buried here” [2] .

The prince was twice married.
- First wife Anna (? - d. 1546 ), daughter of Prince Andrei Mikhailovich Sangushko .
- The second wife, Maria Vasilievna Chaplich (? - d. 1590 ), in the marriage with which the sons were born:

- Yakim (? - 1612 ), who married Jan Karol Khodkevich ’s sister Anna (? - 1626 ); they have sons Samuel , Karol, daughters Marzibella, Sophia, Elena, Lavinia and Isabella.
