Biography
Sofia Eleanor is the daughter of the Landgrave George II and his wife Sofia Eleanor of Saxony , daughter of the Elector of Saxony Johann George I.
On April 21, 1650, in Darmstadt, Sofia Eleanor married her cousin, Landgrave of Hesse-Homburg, Wilhelm Christoph . As a gift, Sofia Eleanor received AMT and Bingenheim Castle from her father. Wilhelm Christoph and his family preferred to live in Bingenheim rather than Homburg. After the death of Sofia Eleanor, Wilhelm Christoph, who had no male heirs, married for the second time to Anna Elizabeth of Saxe-Lauenburg . After the death of William Christoph, a conflict broke out over Bingenheim, in which the regent of Hesse-Darmstadt Elizabeth Dorothea of Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg defeated.
