Thabo Patrick Sepholosha ( born Thabo Patrick Sefolosha ; born May 2, 1984 in Vevey , Switzerland ) is a Swiss professional basketball player who recently played on the team of the Utah Jazz National Basketball Association , a Swiss national team player. In 2006, he became the first Swiss basketball player to be selected for the NBA draft. In 2013 he was named the best Swiss basketball player of all time (according to the newspaper Freiburger Nachrichten ) [1] .

Careers in Europe
Sefolosha was involved in basketball at the Blonie club, was involved in the junior national team of Switzerland , and at the age of 17 he signed his first professional contract with the Swiss Premier League club - Vevey Riviera . [2] During his team’s trip to France, his talent was noticed by the French scout and offered to play for Alan Chalon in the major league of France [2] .
Cepholosha spent his first season in Chalon-sur-Saone , playing for the youth team under the age of 21, who traveled with a senior club. For the next season (2002-03), he earns a place in the main team, where he played 30 games and scored 4 points , 3.5 rebounds and 1 assists per game [2] .
The following season, Thabo earns a spot at the start of the main team, which he helped finish in third place in the French League, where his team made it to the playoff semi -finals . During the season, he averaged 9.4 points, 7 rebounds and 1 interception per game [2] .
Until the beginning of the next season, Agent Sefolosi and the president of the team could not reach an agreement on a new contract, so he signed a contract with the Italian team “ Angelico Biella ". “Last summer, I had a chance to re-negotiate a contract with my club. We had to come to an agreement, but when my agent and president began negotiations, they could not agree on a contract. They wanted me to stay, but at the same time I had this offer from Italy. That's when I decided that it would be better for my career to play Biella. Yes, it was a little troublesome, but in the end everything is in order ” [3] .
NBA Career
Chicago Bulls
Sepholosh was selected under the 13th number in the 2006 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76 team and was immediately traded to the Chicago Bulls for the 16th draft pick ( Rodney Carney ), plus surcharge.
Former Bulls head coach Scott Skiles cited Cepholoshi's hand span and past professional career experiences as reasons why Chicago was interested in him. “Thabo has great physical data that, frankly, many guys in the league just don't have. He has a large body length and he has very fast hands, he grabs your attention whenever you watch him play. It is easy to see that he knows what he is doing there. We can say that he likes to play on the defensive. He seeks to make it work [2] . ”
Oklahoma City Thunder
On February 19, 2009, Thabo was traded by the Bulls at the Oklahoma City Thunder for a first-round pick in the 2009 NBA Draft in which Chicago would select Taj Tajson [4] . In the 2009/2010 season, Sepholos was selected as the second national team of all NBA defense stars .
Atlanta Hawks
On July 3, 2014, Sefolosha signed a three-year contract with Atlanta for $ 12 million [5] .
Utah Jazz
July 13, 2017 signed a contract with the club " Utah Jazz " [6] . On April 3, 2018, he was suspected of drug use and missed five games. [7]
International Career
Thabo played for the youth national team of Switzerland in the qualification for the 2004 European Championship , in 2003 he made his debut for the adult team, took part in the final round of the qualification for the 2003 European Championship . Subsequently, Sefolosha played in the matches of the second division of the European Championship ( 2005 , 2007 , 2009 , 2011 ).

Personal life
Cepholos lived in five different countries and speaks three languages ( Italian , French and English ). He was born in Vevey , Switzerland , his mother is Swiss, and his father is South African .
On April 8, 2015, Cepholosha and his teammate Pero Antic were detained near a New York nightclub for a dispute with police after an armed attack was made on Indiana Pacers player Chris Copeland . During the detention, the police injured the player’s ankle and he was forced to miss the playoff games [8] .
