Potap (nickname Bogdan) Klementyevich Pyzhov ( November 1639 - November 18, 1703 ) was a Russian statesman and military figure of the 17th century .

Biography
The representative of the old Moscow noble family , leading the beginning of Fedor Vasilyevich Khvostov , nicknamed Pyzh. The son of the patriarchal steward (then the nobleman of Moscow) Pyzhov Clement Ilyich. He began the court service with the rank of tenant . In 1661 he was granted the solicitor of the service of the service. Member of the Russian-Polish war of 1654-1667 [1] . At the beginning of 1668 he was appointed head of the order of Moscow archers , stationed in Zamoskvorechye , in the parish of the Church of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Ordynskaya Street . He took part in campaigns against the "Zaporizhzhya Cherkasy" in 1668 and 1674 . In 1677 - 1678 years at the "lower service" in Astrakhan . He was dismissed from the command of the regiment in early 1682 with the rank of steward and colonel . In February 1682 he was sent to the province of Kaigorod . In 1691 - 1692 the governor in Samara . The last years of his life he spent in his ancestral estate , the village of Moldino, Vyshnevolotsky district . At his expense, the construction of the stone Transfiguration Church was begun in the village, near the walls of which he was buried [2] .
From the name of Pyzhov, in which in 1672 a stone Annunciation Church was erected in the Streletskaya settlement on Ordynskaya Street , the name of the tract Pyzhi came. According to it, later received its name modern Pyzhevsky Lane [3] .
