Black Prize

The Chern Prize (also called the Zheng Prize or the Chern Medal ) is an international award for outstanding achievements in mathematics. The prize consists of a cash prize of $ 250,000 and a gold medal, that is, in size it takes one of the leading places among mathematical prizes, behind the breakthrough prize in mathematics , the Abel Prize , the Shao Prize , the Balzan Prize , the Kraford Prize , the Kyoto Prize , but ahead of the Nemmers Prize in Mathematics , the Wolf Prize , the Ostrovsky Prize and the Rolf Shock Prize . Awarded once every 4 years at the International Congress of Mathematicians , along with 3 other prizes. It was named in memory of the Sino-American mathematician Zheng Xinsheng (in the Russian transliteration of the obsolete English Romanization of the Chinese language, his name and surname are written as Shi'ing-Shen Chern ), funded by the Chern Medal Foundation (CMF). In addition, the winner receives the right to recommend one or more organizations for grants totaling up to $ 250,000, in order to support research, education and other programs in the field of mathematics. This part is called the Organizational Award.
