History
A plan for laying a street in this direction was developed in accordance with the post-war master plan for the development of Novgorod (1944), drawn up under the guidance of Academician A. Shchusev A.V. Ulitsa was formed in the early 1950s. It was supposed to be called Stalin Avenue , but in the end the name Vokzalnaya was chosen. In April 1964, Vokzalnaya was renamed Karl Marx Avenue . The name was retained until February 11, 2011, when as a result of long debates, public hearings, polls, etc., by the decision of the Duma of Veliky Novgorod, the avenue was renamed Voskresensky Boulevard [1] .
In the middle of the boulevard is a pedestrian path framed on the sides by lawns and tree planting in two rows. Two-way traffic. The boulevard is built up with residential and to a small extent administrative buildings of the Stalin and Khrushchev buildings and is one of the main highways of the city, connecting the automobile and railway stations with its center.
October 22, 1975 on the avenue of Karl Marx plane crash occurred . The Yak-40 plane (board CCCP-87458), flying on the Syktyvkar – Vologda flight — the Smolnoye alternate aerodrome — Novgorod — Riga , went into landing at Yuryevo Airport in the conditions of fog and extremely poor visibility from the south. As a result of erroneous actions based on obsolete weather data received from the dispatcher, the 700-meter crew deviated from the glide path and began a premature decline. With the landing gears, the plane demolished the roof of the regional printing house (Karl Marx Avenue, 6), then crashed into the building opposite No. 5 (the hostel). 11 people died in the crash (4 crew members, 2 passengers, 5 residents of Novgorod).
