Björn Kuipers ( Dutch. Björn Kuipers , 'bjʏːrn' k –ypərs ; born March 28, 1973, Oldenzaal , Overijssel , Netherlands ) is a Dutch soccer referee who works mainly in Eredivisi . One of the judges of the final stage of the 2014 World Cups in Brazil [1] and 2018 in Russia .

Biography
In addition to the Dutch championship matches, Kuipers served international tournaments, in particular the final of the 2006 European Youth Championship between the Czech and Russian national teams [2] [3] and the matches of the UEFA Cup , Europa League and Champions League [4] . Kuipers is included in the list of the best football referees of the Royal Football Union of the Netherlands [5] . His father was also a football referee.
On January 14, 2009, , head of the refereeing team at the Royal Netherlands Football Union of the Netherlands, confirmed that Kuipers received the highest status in European football. Together with Peter Wink and Eric Bramhar , Kuypers became the third Dutch judge of the European level [6] . Since 2006 , Kuipers has been a judge of FIFA [7] .
On August 24, 2011 he was appointed chief judge for the 2011 UEFA Super Cup match between the winner of the Champions League 2011 Barcelona and the winner of the Europa League 2011 Porto [8] .
May 15, 2013 served the UEFA Europa League 2012/13 final , in which the Portuguese “ Benfica ” and the English “ Chelsea ” met [9] .
He was appointed chief judge of the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League final , in which Real Madrid and Atlético met at the Estadio da Luz stadium in Lisbon on May 24, 2014 [10] .
Kuipers, with his high-level team, judged the second leg of the 2016/17 UEFA Champions League quarter -final match between the Spanish Barcelona and the Italian Juventus , which took place on April 19, 2017 at the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona [11] . Kuipers showed 4 yellow cards, 2 for each team. At the playoff stage, there were many complaints about the quality of work to various referees, which caused doubts from the public and was brightly covered in the media, which further served as an occasion for Bjorn to stop situations in a harsh form at an early stage of moments where players asked for penalties for the opponent either showed dissatisfaction with the decisions of the Dutch brigade.
