Biography
Born on November 29 ( December 12 ), 1908 in the village of Lomovo, now Korochansky district, Belgorod region, in a working class family. Russian He graduated from elementary school. He worked as a stoner in a mine.
In the Red Army since 1930. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1938. Member of the fighting on the Khalkhin-Gol River in 1939, the Soviet-Finnish War of 1939-1940 . In the Great Patriotic War since 1941.
From August to September 1941 he took part in the Iranian operation . Later he fought: from November 1941 to February 1942 he fought on the Southern Front, from June to July 1942 on the South-Western Front, from November to December 1942 on the Stalingrad Front, from July to August 1943 on the Voronezh Front, the commander of a separate motorcycle battalion of the 29th tank corps .
In October 1944, the regiment, in which Konstantin P. Antonenko served, was assigned a combat mission: acting two reconnaissance groups ahead of the advancing tank formations, break through the enemy’s defenses.
Deputy Commander of the 1st Separate Guards Motorcycle Regiment ( 5th Guards Tank Army , 1st Baltic Front ) of the Guard, Major Kuzma Antonenko, led a reinforced group of four semi-armored vehicles, two self-propelled guns and nine motorcycles with a reconnaissance group on October 7, 1944, entered the rear of the enemy and after completing the mission returned without loss.
On October 10, 1944, a reconnaissance group led by Antonenko again broke through to the rear of the enemy. Having crossed the Miniya River and disabled the Kretingen-Memel railway, Soviet soldiers rushed to the city of Palanga ( Lithuania ), reached its outskirts and were the first to reach the Baltic Sea .
For his skillful command of the reconnaissance group, decisive actions and the heroism of the guard, Major Antonenko Kuzma Prokopyevich was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 24, 1945 with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal (No. 7419).
After the war, a brave officer continued to serve in the Armed Forces of the USSR, served in the 129th Pacific Motorized Rifle Division as commander of the 33rd Separate Motorcycle Battalion. In 1953, he graduated from the Higher Armored School. Since 1956, Colonel Antonenko K.P. - in stock. He lived in the city of Kirovograd ( Ukraine ). He died on December 30, 1993.
