CELPE-Bras ( port. Certificado de Proficiência em Língua Portuguesa para Estrangeiros - certificate of proficiency in Portuguese as a foreign language) - certificate of proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese in the Ministry of Education of Brazil . It certifies one of four levels of language proficiency: intermediate ( port. Intermediário ), above average ( port. Intermediário superior ), advanced ( port. Avançado ) and higher than advanced ( port. Avançado superior ). Exams have been held since 1998.
