Diamond, Marina Davydovna

Born December 23, 1934, in Moscow. She worked at the Institute of Biophysics of the Ministry of Health. She was involved in the treatment of acute radiation sickness under the guidance of A. I. Vorobyov . In 1972, it was the first in the Soviet Union to start program treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children, and 50% of patients were cured.

The first proposed the most gentle way to prevent neuroleukemia using two cytostatics (methotrexate and cytosar), administered endolumbally, abandoning previously mandatory head irradiation. She participated in the creation of the first biological dosimetry system, successfully used in the treatment of victims of the Chernobyl disaster . Attentiveness to each patient and maintaining graphs of physiological parameters (“Dynamic observation sheet”) became the key to detecting a strong dependence of the change in the number of leukocytes in the blood on the radiation dose per bone marrow and the creation of the first Biological Dosimetry System.

Most of her life (starting as a senior laboratory assistant with I. A. Kassirsky and ending her career as a senior researcher ^[1] ) M. D. Brilliant worked at the Department of Hematology of the Central Institute for Advanced Medical Studies in Moscow, where she taught programmed chemotherapy of oncohematological diseases. She carried out fundamental work on the pathogenesis of leukemia, participated in the creation of a modern hematopoiesis scheme, the classification of hemoblastoses and the development of intensive care methods for hematopathies. Died April 21, 1990, in Moscow

Laureate of the USSR State Prize for the development of intensive care in hematology (1987) ^[1] . Order of the Red Banner of Labor for the treatment of victims of the Chernobyl accident.
