Lori Plateau [1] [2] , formerly Lori Plain [2] , Lori Basin ( Armenian Լոռվա սարահարթ - Lorva Plateau ) is a plateau in the north-west of Armenia , surrounded from the west by the Javakheti Range , from the south - by the Bazum Range , with the east - The Somkheti Range , from the north with small dissected ridges and mountains. Located at an altitude of 1550-1700 m above sea level . The length from west to east and from north to south is 18 km, an area of 324 km² .

The soil on the plateau is represented by fertile chernozem up to 75-90 cm thick [3] . On the plateau is the city of Tashir , Stepanavan airport, among the large villages are: Privolnoye, Saratovka, Katnakhbyur, Dashtadem, Novoseltsovo, Mikhailovka, Metsavan. The Dzoraget and Tashir rivers flow on the plateau, here are also located: Lori reservoir, Lake Ettik with an area of 8.7 hectares . The continental climate prevails, the landscape is mountain-steppe. The field is sown with cereals , sugar beets , tobacco [4] [5] [6] [7] .
