Fo Tho ( Vietnamese. Phú Thọ , t'ynom 富 寿 ) is a province in northern Vietnam , about 80 km from Hanoi . The area is 3,532 km²; the population according to 2009 is 1 313 926 people [1] . The administrative center is the city of Vietchi .

Geography and climate
The province is located in the central part of northern Vietnam, at the confluence of the major rivers Hongha (Red) and Yes (Black). On the territory of Footho is the Swanson National Park, an area of 150.48 km². The park has 282 species of fauna, including 23 species of amphibians, 30 species of reptiles, 168 species of birds and 61 species of mammals.
The climate is characterized as tropical monsoon. The average annual temperature is 23.5 ° C, the average rainfall is 1600-1800 mm. The monsoon season lasts from May to October; the rainiest month is August, the driest month is January.
Population
According to 2009 data, the provincial population was 1,313,926 people, the average population density: 372.01 people / km². Share of women: 51.62%; males: 48.38%. Urban population: 15.97%.
Administrative Division
Administratively divided into:
- 1 city of provincial subordination of Vietci (Việt Trì),
- 1 city of Phu Thọ
- and 11 counties.
Economics and Transport
The basis of the economy is agriculture. The most important export crop is tea.
National Highway No. 2 ( Kunming -Hanoi) passes through the province; No. 32A (Hanoi - Hoabin) and No. 32C (Hanoi - Laos). The railway line of their Chinese Kunming to Hanoi and further to Haiphong also passes through Footho. The city of Vietchi is a large river port.
