Description
On the river are the villages of the same name and the village of Pes , the village of Khvoynaya (the center of the Khvoyninsky district of the Novgorod region ), the village of White Crosses , the villages of Sazonovo and Chagoda (the center of the Chagodoschensky district of the Vologda region ).
The dog flows from Lake Rakitinskoye in the northeast of the Novgorod region . The Medvedka River, which flows into Lake Rakitinskoe, is sometimes mistakenly considered the beginning of the Pesy. The river ends within the boundaries of the village of Chagoda , flowing into Chagoda , which, after the mouth of the Pesy, is called Chagodoshcha .
After the source, the width of the Pesy is 15 - 20 meters. It flows quite quickly in a rocky channel, on this site in the river there are a lot of stones, rifts and small sills.
Behind the village of Pes on the Sonkovo - St. Petersburg railway , the river flow slows down, rifts disappear, and the banks become low and swampy. The river retains this character up to Khvoynoy, standing on the same railway, behind which the Dog goes into the picturesque pine forests. In the village of Mints, there is a dam and a dam on the river. Behind it, Peso flows in beautiful, forested, sparsely populated shores right up to the village of Sazonovo. On the site where Peso flows next to the Kabozha -Podborovye railway, it overcomes another rapids with stony rifts. Interestingly, in this place, Pes approaches the Kobozh River at a distance of only about two kilometers, the rivers are even connected by several drainage channels, but then the rivers diverge.
Beyond Sazonovo, the river expands to 30 - 40 meters, along the banks there are more meadows and sandy beaches. In the village of Chagoda, Peso flows into the Chagoda River.
The river is popular with water boatmen and fishermen.
The name of the river comes from the old Russian word dog , which means sandy [3] .
