Biography
Otto Schwartz was born on April 28, 1900 in Thuringia in Germany . From 1919 to 1920 he studied in Jena , then moved to Berlin . In 1928, Schwartz published the paper Analytische Studie über die Beziehungen der Phanerogamenflora von Arnhemsland (Nord-australien) , dedicated to flowering plants of the Arnhem Land Peninsula, for which he was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science . From 1946 to 1970, Otto Schwartz was professor of botany and director of the herbarium of Hausknecht. Otto Karl Anton Schwartz died on April 7, 1983 in Jena. Most of the plant samples collected by Schwartz are stored in the herbarium of the University of Jena at Hauskknecht.
