Greifswalder-Oye [1] ( German: Greifswalder Oie ) is a small island at the exit of Pomeranian Bay , in the federal state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern . The length of the island is 1550 m with a width of 570 m and an area of 54 ha. The highest point is a hill in the eastern part, 17 m high, at the northern end there is a lighthouse 49 m high, the most powerful of the German ones.

Access to the island was closed from 1936 to 1991. In 1937-45 he was part of the Peenemuende missile range. After the Second World War, the Soviet military settled on the island, which seriously damaged the island’s ecology. Now a bird sanctuary has been created on it, but has not yet been populated, rescue services are based, ferries to Peenemuende and Karlshagen go irregularly.
