Story
The action takes place in Mexico in the first half of the twentieth century. Matea Gutteres, left in childhood without parents, is brought up in a shelter at a women's Catholic monastery . After leaving the orphanage, the young woman leaves for a small provincial town and works as a servant at the church, where she serves as a priest, old padre Feliciano ( Mario Almada ).
A young doctor who lives in the city ( Sergio Jimenez ) draws attention to a beautiful maid. With the permission of Padre Feliciano, he invites Matei to go for a walk alone, but on the deserted shore of the lake he tries to tear off Matei’s clothes and rape her. Having been repulsed, he harbors a grudge against Mate.
Matei and Padre Feliciano enter into an intimate relationship. The population of the town learns about it from the doctor who accidentally discovered this secret. Her friend Ursula ( Hilda Aguirre ), who had previously been Padre Feliciano's mistress, also became the enemy of Matei.
Suddenly, Padre Feliciano dies. Instead, they send a new priest ( Juan Angel Martinez ) to the town - a young and beautiful one. Matei falls in love with him at first sight, but the priest rejects her love, even when she is completely naked in a fit of passion and comes to his room.
Upon learning of this, the townsfolk harass Matei, accusing her of having finished sex with the old priest, and now she’s taken on the young one, and they give her the nickname “ black widow ” - this is what Mexicans call spiders who mate during mating and eat up male spiders.
