Biography

Born on June 2, 1925 in the village of Krasny Kholm, now in the Zubtsovsky district of the Tver region, into a peasant family. Russian Primary education. He worked on a collective farm .

When the front approached his native home in the fall of 1941, Alexey, along with other gurtovtsy, was entrusted by the collective farm board to evacuate the public herd. The climbers took the herd, led a nomadic life. After the bombing and shelling, they collected scared cows and moved on. And then - a hectic life in the evacuation, concern for maintaining the public herd. In February 1942, the village of Krasny Kholm was liberated from the German invaders, and in early summer Alexei, along with his herd, returned to his native collective farm. Together with women and old people, he restored the economy.

On April 10, 1943, when he was not yet eighteen, he was called up as a volunteer for active military service by the Pogorelsky military commissariat of the Kalinin region. In the training regiment in the Ivanovo region, he received the specialty of a mortar man. Since the summer of 1943 in the army. He fought on the Kalinin , 1st Baltic and 1st Ukrainian fronts . He fought in battles for Pskov and Riga .

In February 1944 he was wounded, spent several months in a hospital in Leningrad . Returning to the front, he fought as part of the 898th Infantry Regiment of the 245th Infantry Division. In June 1944 he was awarded the medal "For Courage" . He particularly distinguished himself during the liberation of Poland and the forcing of the Dnieper River .

In January 1945, the 59th Army, brought into battle on the Nida River, launched an offensive in the direction of Krakow - Soskovec - Kozel. Its advanced units reached the Oder by January 30, 1945. Forcing began. When the platoon commander, where A.I. Andreshov served, failed, he assumed command.

Junior sergeant, shouting: “Follow me!” - led the soldiers to overcome the water barrier. The platoon crossed and went to the flank of the defending Germans. A. Andreshov knew from experience that it was impossible to hesitate, and gave the command: “For the Motherland, forward!” He ran ahead, and his comrades followed suit. Having occupied the trenches of the enemy, the platoon ensured the crossing of the entire battalion. The bridgehead was conquered. Fighting ensued for the city of Kozel, now Kendzezhin-Kozle in Poland . Here, during the assault on one of the outskirts, Junior Sergeant Aleksey Ivanovich Andreshov, who commanded a platoon, fell heroically in the attack.

He was buried at the site of the last battle in the city of Kendzezhin-Kozle. Later, he was reburied at the Kutuzov Memorial, a military cemetery in the village of Bolevlavitsa, near the town of Boleslawiec , next to the remains of Field Marshal Kutuzov .

By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of April 10, 1945, for the courage and heroism shown when crossing the Oder and holding the bridgehead on its western shore, Junior Sergeant Aleksey Ivanovich Andreshov was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.

Memory

In 1961, in the village of Krasny Kholm, a memorial plaque was installed on the house where Andreshov’s parents Alexei Ivanovich lived, with the inscription “Hero of the Soviet Union Alexei Ivanovich, who died in the battle for his homeland on January 30, 1945, lived in this house from 1925 to 1942 of the year". In 1996, the house burned down, in 2006 it was restored, the board is on the facade of the house.
