History
In 1800, the Changchun Commissariat (长春 厅) was formed south of these places. In 1825, the borders of the commissariat were expanded. In local chronicles it is said: "Local merchants have wide shops ( kuan ), so instead of two characters Changchun often write only one character - kuan ." As a result, then Changchun was better known as Kuanchenzi (宽城 子 - “Wide City”). In 1889, the Changchun Commissariat was upgraded to the status of the Changchun Council (长春 府). In May 1898, north-east of Kuanchenzi, the Chinese Eastern Railway station was built, which received the same name. Gradually, the area around the station developed, and under the name "Kuanchenzi" they began to understand it, and the old city was called Changchun.
After the Russo-Japanese War of 1904-1905, Japan received the rights to the railway from Port Arthur to Changchun; from Kuanchenzi, the Russian-controlled CER began .
In 1912, the Changchun Government was transformed into Changchun County. In 1925, the city of Changchun was formed, absorbing Kuanchenzi.
In 1931, after the “9-18 incident”, the Japanese invaded Manchuria, and in 1932 the puppet state of Manzhou was formed there, the capital of which was Changchun, then renamed Xinjing. In 1937, the territory of Xinjing was divided into 18 districts, four of which were located in the modern district of Kuancheng. In 1940, the number of Xinjing districts was reduced to 14.
After the surrender of Japan in 1945, the Kuomintang authorities formed the Kuancheng, Zhongshan and Zhonghua regions on this territory. When the PLA was taken by Changchun in 1948, the number of districts of the city was reduced to 12; Zhongshan District was renamed Touodogou. In 1950, numbers were introduced instead of district names: Kuancheng became "District No. 6," and Toudaugou became "District No. 2." In 1955 they refused to number the districts and were returned to their previous names. In 1957, the Kuancheng and Toudogou districts were merged into a single Kuancheng district.
