Forup ( Dat. Fårup Sø ) is a lake in Denmark , southwest of the town of Yelling , in the municipality of Vejle .

Geography
The surface area of Lake Forup is 0.99 km² and the maximum depth reaches 11 meters.
Ecology
Each year, the lake is visited by 150,000 to 200,000 tourists , for which boat rentals and campsites operate on the shores. Since 2000, the lake has become noticeably cleaner and the water is transparent to a depth of 2.4 meters (previously transparency was only 1.4 meters). The reason for this purity is the settlement of the lake with a colony of Dreissen of 1.3 billion units, and they constantly purify water from algae , which had previously been a big problem in the reservoir . The Viking ship Jellingormen, which is a tourist attraction for visitors to this region, is also based on the lake.
