Biography
He was brought up in a believing Orthodox family. At the age of 14, in the Intercession Cathedral of the city of Kuibyshev, he became subdeacon of Archbishop Eusebius .
July 3, 1993 in the Pskov-Pechersk Assumption Monastery tonsured by Archbishop Eusebius in a small schema named Cornelius .
On June 6, 1994, he was ordained a hierodeacon in the John the Baptist Church in Samara.
On July 31, 1995, in the Intercession Cathedral, he was ordained a hieromonk and appointed rector of the Mikhailo-Arkhangelsk church in the village of Orekhovka in the Alekseevsky district of the Samara region .
In 1997 he was transferred to the clergy of the church in the name of the holy martyrs Faith, Hope, Love and their mother Sophia in Samara. June 22, 1999 he was appointed rector of the church under construction in the name of the holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir of the city of Samara.
In 2000, he was elevated to the rank of abbot .
In 2003, he was appointed interim member of the Russian Spiritual Mission in Jerusalem .
Since June 1, 2007 - Dean of the Samara urban Volga district of the Samara diocese .
September 15, 2009 was appointed rector of the parish in the name of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul of the city of Samara.
Since March 3, 2010 - Dean of the Samara City Central District of the Samara Diocese.
April 4, 2010 was elevated to the rank of archimandrite .
He graduated from the Samara Theological Seminary and the Kiev Theological Academy . In 2009 he graduated from the Samara Humanitarian Academy.
Bishop
By the decision of the Holy Synod of July 27, 2011 (magazine No. 70) he was elected bishop of Volgodonsk and Salsk [1] . On September 9, 2011, in the Throne Hall of the Patriarchal chambers of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill led the rank of archimandrite Korniliy (Sinyaev) in the bishop of Volgodonsky and Salsky [2] .
On September 11, 2011, in the Trinity Cathedral of the city of Shchelkovo, Patriarch Kirill performed the ordination of Archimandrite Cornelius to the Bishop of Volgodonsk and Salsk [3] . He was accompanied by: Metropolitan of Krutitsky and Kolomna Juvenal ; Metropolitan of Saransk and Mordovia Barsanuphius , managing director of the Moscow Patriarchate; Archbishop of Yaroslavl and Rostov Panteleimon ; Archbishop Gregory of Mozhaisk; Archbishop of Samara and Syzran Sergius ; Archbishop of Istra Arseny ; Bishop Ilian (Vostryakov) ; Bishop Vidnovsky Tikhon ; Chairman of the Department of Religious Education and Catechesis of the Russian Orthodox Church, Bishop Mercury of Rostov and Novocherkassk; Bishop Roman Serpukhov; Head of the Administrative Secretariat of the Moscow Patriarchate, Bishop of Solnechnogorsk Sergius ; Bishop Ignatius of Shakhty and Millerovsky.
Bishop Cornelius spent his first service in Volgodonsk on September 19, 2011 in the Church of the Nativity of Christ [4] .
From June 11 to June 25, 2012, postgraduate courses for newly appointed bishops took place at the Church Graduate School and Doctoral Studies [5] [6] .
