Kii [1] ( 紀 伊 半島 Kii-hanto:) is one of the largest peninsulas on the island of Honshu in Japan . On the peninsula are Wakayama Prefecture , Mie Prefecture , Nara Prefecture , Osaka Prefecture .

Kii Peninsula is known as an area of significant cultural and historical events. There are many interesting places on the peninsula that have received UNESCO World Heritage status .
The most notable places on the Kii Peninsula:
- Nara , the former capital with famous temples and palaces.
- Koya-san , the mountain on which the ancient monasteries of the Buddhist Singon school are located .
- Wakayama , the place where the Tokugawa shoguns came from.
- Matsusaka , livestock breeding center (bull rearing).
- Ise is the holy city of Shintoism , where the Ise-jingu complex is located, where pearls are mined.
- Iga known for being a ninja .
- Yoshino (village) - a region in a dense forest with picturesque mountains, the place of origin of the southern imperial court in the Namoku-cho period.
- Shingu , Owase , Kumano - the area of the famous Shinto shrines.
In 2004, the Yoshino , Kumano , Koya-san and surrounding areas received UNESCO World Heritage status . The Kumano-Kodo system of ancient pilgrimage trails leading to the main Shinto shrines is of great historical importance.
